2:12:13: Pop goes the quiz

Tuesday we took a pop quiz that shed some interesting light on where people are getting their news and information. Among the surprises – broadcast news viewership is much higher than cable news and, the audience is growing.

We explored Alexa, the web information company, and Technorati, the blog-rating authority site.  I encourage you to visit both sites occasionally to see how the traffic and popularity ebbs and flows.

We also discussed the journalistic applications of Twitter, which were illustrated real-time in the form of breaking news from OU.

Finally, we played with the Google Maps app and toyed with creating location mash-ups. Wow.

Meanwhile, speaking of “Broadcast News,” if you haven’t seen this 1987 comedy-drama, it’s worth streaming. A real period piece and some boffo performances.
